KANGAL Dog ABARI, aka: Girlie Girl, Bari, girl... and other
silly names we come up with.

She came to us from Texas in November 2005 at the age of 4
months.

She is the most gentle
KANGAL girl you can imaging- unless she
plays with her buddies STITCH or KANGAL
KAPIF- then she can
turn into a Furie...
She loves everybody, but little human girls turn her into a wiggly, kissing lovely.
Not everybody is ecstatic about a Wet Willy ...
Otherwise, you can do anything you want with her- she is a very patient soul..
.... but even little ABARI need's to grow up slowly- so here she is in December
2007 - a beautiful Kangal girl
In the snow with her buddies... human and 4 footers;

And she doesn't mind sharing her couch either...

KANGAL Socialization
Very thorough Socialization is an absolute must for the
KANGAL pup.

KANGAL pups weigh about 2 pounds and have a very dark coat
when they are born that will lighten up as the weeks go by.

When we got our KANGAL girl ABARI she was 4 months old and
weight 30 pounds, when we got our KANGAL boy KAPIF he was
10 weeks old and weight in at also 30 pounds.
You will have a puppy in a very big body!

It is important to already start teaching you KANGAL pup as early
as possible - introduce it to friends that come and visit your home,
take it with you on car rides when you pick up the kids from school
and then also take them to places where they can meet with other
dogs, in short get them exposed to as many people and other dogs as
you can.

KANGAL dogs make very rewarding companions as long as the
nature of the breed is respected. They will get along with other
animals as well  as other dogs as long as they can be Top Dog. It is
advised not to keep another dominant breed with them, but easy
going dog friends are not a problem.

KANGAL dogs are not very well suited for obedience training, but
not because they are stupid- quite the opposite; if you treat them as
a companion they understand you and will accept reasonable
requests. As some people put it- KANGAL dogs think for them
self- for instance: "If you throw a ball away twice- you must not
want it back!" - or attempting to stop them when a strange human or
animal comes on their premises.

Very tall fences are a must, as KANGAL dogs will jump and climb
very high, and KANGAL's will guard as far as they can see and
hear. They are suspicious of strangers unless properly introduced
by their owners, so the walkway to your front door needs to be
secure.
